Geography video and pictures

Pictures from my trip to thailand about the human and physical environment.

Personally i think the physical environment is more important. For bulidings to be bulit,we will need things from the physical environment such as cement, rocks and bricks.Without the physical environment,we would not have any materials to bulit bulidings so the human environment will not even be here!

What is Geography?

Geography is the study of the physical environment, including features and occurrences like weather, natural vegetation, rivers and mountains.
WE study how all features and occurrences in the physical environment affect our lives and the environment we live in.

The word geography is derived from the the ancient Greek words ge meaning "Earth" and graphein meaning "to write". Thus, Geography means to write about, or describe the Earth.

The 'Father of Geography' is the greek scholar, Eratosthenes (276 BC - 192 BC). He was the first person to measure the circumference if the Earth, without all the technology we have today.

Geography

Geography is the study of the earth’s landscapes, peoples, places and environments. It is, quite simply, about the world in which we live.
Geography is unique in bridging the social sciences (human geography) with the natural sciences (physical geography).
Geography puts this understanding of social and physical processes within the context of places and regions - recognising the great differences in cultures, political systems, economies, landscapes and environments across the world, and the links between them. Understanding the causes of differences and inequalities between places and social groups underlie much of the newer developments in human geography.
Geography provides an ideal framework for relating other fields of knowledge.

Human Environment

Human Geography combines economic and cultural geography to explore the relationships between humans and their natural environment, and to track the broad social patterns that shape human societies. Cultural geography, also known as human geography, covers a wide swath of human interaction with the land. Cultural geography includes language, religion, medicine, cities, economics, entertainment, and much more.

Physical Environment

Physical geography covers the topics relating to the surface of the earth - the landforms, glaciers, rivers, climate, oceans, earth-sun interaction, hazards, and more. It is a part both of the Earth Sciences, alongside subjects such as Geology, and of Geography, with its explicit focus on the spatial distributions of phenomena and its concern with the clues that spatial evidence can provide to help answer questions about the Earth's surface and environmental systems. Humans are the only one part of the overall equation.

Extra Info

Physical geography (or physiogeography) focuses on geography as an Earth science. It aims to understand the physical lithosphere, hydrosphere, atmosphere, pedosphere, and global flora and fauna patterns (biosphere). Physical geography can be divided into the following broad categories:
-Biogeography
-Climatology & paleoclimatology
-Coastal geography
-Environment geography & management

-Geodesy
-Geomorphology
-Glaciology
-Hydrology & Hydrography
-Landscape ecology
-Oceanography
-Pedology
-Palaeogeography

-Quaternary science

Human geography is a branch of geography that focuses on the study of patterns and processes that shape human interaction with various environments. It encompasses human, political, cultural, social, and economic aspects. While the major focus of human geography is not the physical landscape of the Earth (see physical geography), it is hardly possible to discuss human geography without referring to the physical landscape on which human activities are being played out, and environmental geography is emerging as a link between the two. Human geography can be divided into many broad categories, such as:

-Cultural geography
-Development geography
-Economic geography
-Health geography

-Historical & Time geography
-Political geography & Geopolitics
-Pop. geog. or Demography
-Religion geography
-Social geography
-Transportation geography
-Tourism geography
-Urban geography

What is Geography?

Geography (from Greek γεωγραφία - geographia, lit. "earth describe-write") is the study of the Earth and its lands, features, inhabitants, and phenomena. A literal translation would be "to describe or write about the Earth". The first person to use the word "geography" was Eratosthenes (276-194 B.C.). Four historical traditions in geographical research are the spatial analysis of natural and human phenomena (geography as a study of distribution), area studies (places and regions), study of man-land relationship, and research in earth sciences.Nonetheless, modern geography is an all-encompassing discipline that foremost seeks to understand the Earth and all of its human and natural complexities—not merely where objects are, but how they have changed and come to be. As "the bridge between the human and physical sciences," geography is divided into two main branches—human geography and physical geography.

What is Geography?

What is geography?

Geography means 'to write about,or describe, the Earth'.Geography is a very wide range. It can range from maps to even the solar system!Geography helps us understand how different places in the Earth are linked. Now imagine if we didn't study geography,we would not know where different countries are located so it will take us forever to find our destination! We also would not be able to predict when a hurricane will strike therefore many lives will be lost.
When we study Geography,we can divide it into two groups such as the physical environment or the human environment.Physical environment refers to things that occurs naturally to the Earth and the processes leading to their formation.Examples of these are volcanoes, mountains or even rocks. The human environment is the way people live, work and interact.Examples of these are buildings.
The Earth is already 4,550 million years old. What can we do to help Mother nature? Can we meet the needs of today without compromising the ability of the future generations to meet their own needs?People and the environment are changing.Sustainable development concerns the future. Will Earth still be there tomorrow......?Will life still be sustainable?Do you care enough to make a difference.....Think about it ,what can YOU do? Make Earth a better place for you and i now.
